The research of the Energy and Material Group are in the context of the major economic and social challenges associated with the energy transition. They aim to strengthen the electric vector, both in the deployment of renewable energies and their transport in high voltage direct current (HVDC), as in the revolution of industrial miniaturization aimed at contributing to the development of the power systems of tomorrow. They also aim to provide new tools for understanding fundamental physical phenomena in order to eliminate scientific barriers.

The team's work concerns the reliability of materials, components and systems for electrical energy, with two application domains that are ground and aeronautical transportation and large electric grids, namely:
- Insulating structures and materials submitted to strong constraints.
- Embedded energy systems and converter architectures.
